Job title: Shipping and Receiving Coordinator
Reports to: Shop Foreman
Supervisory responsibilities: None
Summary/objective: The Shipping and Receiving Coordinator position verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing job duties to quality and productivity standards. Advanced Tooling Systems (ATS) is in search of a highly motivated individual who is passionate about organization.
Essential functions:
- Clean, tag and package manufactured products prior to shipment
- Order materials or supplies for shop floor employees
- Contact and set up outside shipping sources
- Receive, identify and log in all items received
- Organize pick-up by the carrier specified on the customer’s purchase order, which is conveyed to the shipping coordinator by final inspection via the shipping instructions
- Check and sign delivery slips for received items
- Assist the shop helpers with unpacking merchandise- verifies the quality and quantity of items against supporting documents
- Record damaged or defective items, and inform Foreman/Manager of issues
- Accept or return merchandise according to established company procedures
- Complete required forms, and ensure proper documentation of all shipping and receiving items
- Organize distribution and shipping of merchandise by making necessary verifications against documents, preparing the merchandise and directing shop helpers to move items to the appropriate area
- Coordinate local customer pick-ups and shipments with company Driver
- Communicate with transportation/logistics companies and suppliers in order to expedite, trace, or return merchandise that does not conform to specifications or purchase orders
- Maintain and organize files of shipping records and goods shipped
- Trace missing or lost shipments
- Ensure that all incoming and outgoing shipments are properly labeled with identifying information and that correlating documents are available with each shipment
- Assist with data entry, project follow-up, and writing purchase orders as requested
Required competency, education, and experience:
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 2 years of related experience
- Knowledge of inventory documentation requirements and process
- Knowledge of outside shipping source requirements
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office- primarily Word and Excel
- Detail-oriented and very organized
Work environment: Office setting in a manufacturing environment.
Physical demands:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to sit for long periods of time
Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk
Repetitive hand motions
Ability to read, write and speak English competently
Prolonged use of computer
Position type and expected hours of work: Full time
