The Shipping and Receiving Specialist is responsible for certain aspects of control of inventory and distribution center logistics as well as general Facilities tasks. The person in this position will provide these services primarily in the HM Cragg corporate facility but could be in the field at customer sites or remote facilities as needed.
There may be other Shipping and Receiving Specialists in the Company at any point in time. Division of labor, accountabilities and responsibilities for the tasks below will be determined during onboarding activities.
Reporting Relationship: The Shipping and Receiving Specialist reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
· Is the primary person responsible (first line of contact) for all inventory transactions for shipping and receiving functions
· Performs data input using SAGE (ERP system) by entering all applicable information for shipping and receiving transactions
· Receives inbound inventory stock and timely ensures that freight is either free of damage or notes damage to the freight and processes it accordingly
· Packages outbound freight to meet Company and freight carrier standards to reduce risk of transportation damage
· Provides backup support with other Distribution Center employees (including remote distribution centers) to ensure accurate and thorough shipping and receiving procedures are followed
· Participates in physical inventory function, when needed, by following counting procedures, working on a counting team, processing counts through accounting/inventory system, investigating variances, and communicating the results to management
· Is backup to other Shipping and Receiving team members, responds to internal requests for freight quotes and other questions in a timely manner (same day)
· Schedules orders for on time pickup with the appropriate freight carrier and communicate exceptions to internal customers
· Maintains good relationships with freight carriers and drivers
· Identifies and improves current processes of inventory management and proactively introduces new ways of improving the current flow
· When needed, performs Service-related tasks (in-house or in field) as assigned (including Integration Services)
· Be a first-line problem solver for the Distribution Center on both a proactive and reactive basis. Escalate issues to the VP of Operations when necessary
· On a limited but as needed basis, may need to be available after hours to respond to internal and external customer needs
· Performs other projects as assigned
Warehouse/Facilities
· Maintains a clean and orderly distribution center including emptying all garbage receptacles on a daily or as needed basis
· Responsible for safety and cleanliness of all internal and external walkways including shoveling snow and salting on a timely basis (first thing in AM for snow)
· Operates forklift, pallet jack, and other equipment as necessary. Provides for maintenance on warehouse equipment as needed
· Participates in monthly staff meetings. Is prepared to discuss processes, procedures or equipment that are not working properly
· Completes basic facility repair and maintenance tasks in the Edina facility, as needed
· Performs other projects as assigned
Provides additional support when needed and as time permits on the following:
· Pick and stage service materials for upcoming projects
· Re-stocks and / or discards components remaining from job sites
· Palletize, label and prepare scrap batteries for shipment to recycling facility

Travel expectations: Occasional travel to customer sites and other HM Cragg facilities (less than 5%)
Posting Qualifications:
· High school diploma
· Ability to work at various heights
· Ability to maintain a valid driver's license
· Ability to lift items greater than 25lbs (and up to 150 lbs.) on a regular basis
· Ability to lift and extend arms above shoulder height repeatedly and for extended periods
· Must pass a physical exam, background check and pre-employment drug screening
