Job Summary
Fabrication Specialist/Belt Crew performs splicing procedures to include vulcanization and mechanical on conveyor belts, troubleshoot conveyors, install belts on conveyors and train conveyor belts. This is a safety sensitive position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Communicate with crew leader and site plant personnel accordingly
- Adhere to all RGA and site policies, instructions, procedures and safety guidelines in accordance with applicable OSHA and MSHA regulation
- Must have ability to operate a commercial motor vehicle in accordance with applicable Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations
- Maintain all work related documentation to include DOT logbooks, pre-departure safety inspections, work area safety inspections and HAZCOM Safety Data Sheets
- Repair, splice and vulcanize all types of conveyor belts, ability to troubleshoot and install belts on conveyors and train conveyor belts
- Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase the efficiency of the work crew
- Report to shop foreman of assigned profit center when not performing belt crew duties. Other duties may be assigned at this time including belt, hose and gasket fabrication, welding and general housekeeping duties.
- Conducts general housekeeping in accordance with applicable OSHA regulation
- Ability to work in a timely manner, to demonstrate attention to detail, to follow RGA policies and procedures, to uphold RGA values and maintain regular and timely attendance
- Other duties as assigned by management
- Regular and reliable attendance required

Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to perform each of the essential duties and responsibilities successfully; including the use of reasoning, communicating, calculating, analyzing, problem solving, and leading as needed
- Ability to complete work in a timely manner and demonstrate attention to detail
- Ability to obtain belt splicing certification within 180 days of employment and pass other required certification exams
Education and Experience
- Preferred: High School Diploma or equivalent
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
- Must have a valid, active Driver's License with an insurable driving record
- May be required to obtain a commercial Driver's License
Travel
- Must be able to travel as required
Physical Demands
- Ability to occasionally lift at least 100 lbs frequently
- Must be able to repetitively stand, climb, stoop, crouch, reach, walk, and bend
- Must be able to work long hours
- Occasionally required to sit
- Must be able to talk and hear
Work Environment
- Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions.
- Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places and vibration.
- Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold or heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and very loud noise levels.
Must pass a hair follicle drug test upon hire.
