Title: Shop Foreman
Location: Greater Omaha
Our client is actively seeking a seasoned Shop Foreman to lead and manage their team of mechanics in the service and repair of medium and heavy-duty trucks. This role is essential to ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the shop’s operations, while upholding the highest standards of service and safety. This is a second shift position.
Responsibilities for Shop Foreman:
Supervisory Duties for Shop Foreman:
- Lead and manage a team of mechanics, ensuring proper diagnosis and repair of medium and heavy-duty trucks.
- Provide hands-on training to mechanics, enhancing their skills and ensuring they meet industry standards.
- Recommend and manage the inventory of tools, parts, and supplies necessary for truck maintenance and repair.
- Oversee warranty processes, ensuring compliance with all guidelines and procedures.
- Ensure all service equipment is maintained and repaired as needed.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations of mechanics, reporting findings to the Service Manager.
- Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and termination of shop personnel.
- Collaborate with the Service Manager and Service Advisor in handling incoming customer calls and inquiries.
Operational Duties for Shop Foreman:
- Accurately document customer service requests and ensure all necessary information is captured.
- Advise customers on essential maintenance services, ensuring their vehicles remain in optimal condition.
- Diagnose mechanical issues by engaging with customers, conducting visual inspections, and performing road tests.
- Identify and manage warrantable repairs, saving parts for potential warranty claims.
- Conduct federal recalls and safety checks as required by regulations.
- Prepare detailed repair orders, including time, cost, and labor estimates, and secure customer approval before commencing work.
- Communicate with customers about any additional repairs needed, providing professional recommendations.
- Obtain formal authorization from customers for all repairs to ensure transparency and trust.
- Draft clear and concise problem descriptions on repair orders to guide mechanics in their work.
- Schedule and assign service tasks to mechanics, optimizing workflow and efficiency.
- Monitor repair progress, ensuring all work is completed on time and to the highest standards.
- Review, finalize, and close repair orders, ensuring accuracy in all documentation.
- Clearly explain completed work and associated costs to customers, addressing any concerns they may have.
- Resolve customer complaints with professionalism and a focus on customer satisfaction.
Qualifications for Shop Foreman : 5 years experience as Lead Technician or Shop Foreman
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- Diploma from a Technical College or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Strong computer skills, with proficiency in industry-related software.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in heavy-duty truck repair.
- A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred but not mandatory.
