HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE: The Shop Foreman will be responsible for supervising shop floor associates (SFA’s) across all workstations at the Upfit & Service Centers. This individual will be responsible for planning and assigning work, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and recommending improvements in install and upfit methods, equipment operating procedures, and working conditions. This position impacts efficient and timely truck builds and truck servicing requirements.
- Enforce safety rules and take action to remove safety hazards.
- Confer with Installation & Service Manager to coordinate work activities. Plan and establish work schedules.
- Determine daily truck build goals and the supporting headcount needs to meet targets
- Trouble-shoot equipment to maximize up time.
- Ensure materials and processes result in the production of products that meet quality standards.
- Manage work schedules and resources to level loaded plans which meet customer demand.
- Support the training and coaching needed for employees in daily work activities, ensuring that workers conform to safety procedures while maintaining required output levels using the proper documented operating procedures.
- Ensure 5S activities are completed in all workstations as required.
- Confer with Installation & Service Manager around actions to select, train, discipline, and terminate shop floor associates.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within shop and in coordination with other locations.
- Manages shop floor priorities
- Ability to improve installation and upfit processes and methods for safety, cost reduction, quality improvement & efficiency.

WHAT THIS ROLE NEEDS:
- Support of work standardization throughout truck build work flow while identifying and prioritizing continuous improvement future state opportunities.
- Sustainment and execution of SQDC programs and continuous improvement activites
- Maintain and report out on MDI SQDC Tracking Boards to identify and prioritize continuous improvement activities.
- Participation in timely and informative Shop Floor Associate performance reviews to establish improvement plans as related to SQDC and adherence to DD organization policies.
- Complete other reasonably related duties as assigned.
- 2-Year Technical/Associate’s Degree preferred, or equivalent with Supervisory experience and/or Military experience. Leadership training a bonus.
- Demonstrated computer skills competency required (Microsoft Office Tools, Database use, etc).
- Must have proven verbal and written communication skills.
