Shop Helper - PGT Trucking, Inc.

The Shop Helper performs essential support tasks to ensure the efficiency and cleanliness of the maintenance shop. Responsibilities include battery maintenance, assisting mechanics by maintaining a clean work environment, and supporting overall shop operations to ensure technicians can work productively. This role contributes to a positive working environment and adheres to all safety protocols and company policies.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform activities including shop clean up, battery maintenance (responsible for washing, charging, and keeping used batteries ready for installation).
• Ensure technicians can be productive and perform duties to assist the mechanics, such as cleaning up the bay after a mechanic has finished repairing a unit.
• Promote and maintain a positive working environment among all PGT drivers, customers, and management.
• Perform other related duties as required by business necessity or assigned by management.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Participate in safety training programs and adhere to safety protocols.
• Report any safety hazards or incidents to management immediately.
• Ensure the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with safety regulations.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents and injuries.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to perform physical tasks and lift heavy objects.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair processes.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
• Good communication skills.
