Position Title: Shop Mechanic
Wage: $47,840-$54,080 per year

QPS Employment Group has a great opportunity for a Shop Mechanic at a company in Lincoln, NE
This is a 1st shift, direct hire position
Shop Mechanic Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests and identifying worn and damages parts.
- Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades and controlling corrosion.
- Performs all work in accordance with schedules, policies, procedures and standards of quality and safety.
- Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts or systemssuch as power and drive trains, electrical air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering hydraulics, completes machine shop operations.
- Makes alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, hydraulics, pneumatic and traction units.
- Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
- Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety and combustion control standards.
- Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing and painting.
- Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
- Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs.
- Shop tools are provided by the company
Employee must provide a full general toolbox with some special tools.
- Must continue to update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical journals and regulation publications.
- Maintains and assures cleanliness and neatness of shop area
Assures safety standards are met.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Shop Mechanic Requirements:
- Requires a vocational/technical diploma; or three to six months related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Previous experience working on diesel Mack trucks preferred
- A valid CDL driver's license is preferred or must be able to qualify and obtain a CDL within a reasonable amount of time.
- Must have a valid drivers license and be insurable under the companys insurance plan.
- Must be flexible regarding work schedule
Must be able to work nights and weekends
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to shoulder height
