About the Job
Holt CAT in Cleburne is seeking a experienced BCP Equipment - Shop Service Technician for our Cleburne, Texas location which is located at 420 Marti Rd, Cleburne, TX 76033. The hours of the position are Monday-Friday, 7 am to 4 pm. This position is responsible for performing inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of compact construction equipment following established procedures and guidelines. Must have at least 2 years of shop or field and related equipment experience. Sign-On Bonuses of $2,500 to $5,000 are available for qualified candidates. Must have a valid driver license and must be ready to work.
This position is responsible for providing high-quality repair service on heavy to medium size equipment in a shop environment, in order to respond to customer needs in a positive, caring, and timely manner and to ensure maximum value for work performed. This position is responsible for performing inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of compact construction equipment following established procedures and guidelines.
Essential Functions:
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and failures
- Knowledge of using CAT ET and CAT SiS2.0 Preferred
- Disassembles and assembles machine components to manufacturer’s specifications through the use of hand tools, pneumatic tools, and any specialized tooling
- Rebuilds, repairs, reconditions, and maintains equipment and components
- Demonstrates good customer relations and support; communicates customer needs to shop management
- Plans and controls cost of repair jobs
- Completes parts orders and identifies parts for return
- Mentors and helps train other technicians
- Maintains all equipment and work areas – keeps in good, clean, and orderly condition
- Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
- Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; e.g., ProTech Technician Training Paths
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Demonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
- Quality control analysis skills - Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance and communicate findings
- Operation and control skills - Controlling operations of equipment or systems
- Equipment selection skills - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment using electronic and manual equipment to determine failure.
- Able to document all work orders properly
- Must be able to troubleshoot and diagnose Tier 4 systems.
- Ability to operate a forklift and an overhead crane
- The ability to quickly and repeatedly operate the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair
- The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
- The ability to read, write, and understand information
- The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
Additional Requirements:
- Must have all required mechanic hand and pneumatic tools (metric/standard)
Education and Experience:
- At least two years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Graduation from a diesel technology program preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
- Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
- Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet, and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment
- Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment
- Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work
Work Environment:
- Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts
- May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity
- The noise level may be loud at times
- Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
- Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
- Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places
