What You'll Do
- Actively participate and assist in leading team with CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety Culture (Take 2, Observation Cards and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
- Drive continuous improvement; employee productivity, uptime improvements, lead time reductions
- Operate and troubleshoot all equipment in the Straightening area, including all three straighteners, saws and mobile material handling equipment
- Lead pre-shift meeting to include safety topics, stretch exercises and daily plan
- Builds strong engagement within the team by effectively communicating the department's strategy and goals to the team
- Holds people accountable for their behavior and performance. Addresses performance problems quickly
- Perform SAP functions related to sawing and straightening merchant bar
- Daily communication with production operator to identify opportunities, issues, and concerns
- Embodies and reinforces CMC's culture, Guiding Principles, Safety, and policies/procedures
- Maintain and turn in all daily and monthly reports required by management
- Responsible for meeting and/or exceeding customer expectations; on-time performance, customer satisfaction/service, cost controls
- Communicate with management staff and maintain familiarity with customers expectations
What You'll Need
- Minimum two (2) years of Straightening experience required
- Minimum two (2) years of supervisory - Leadman experience in an operations environment required
- Knowledge of departmental flows to schedule downtime and lockout/tagout procedures
- Extensive understanding of all equipment within the straightening department
- Proven Straightening experience in utilizing math, verbal, mechanical, analytical and planning skills
- Basic computer skills required (outlook, excel, word, etc)
- SAP experience strongly preferred
- Must have a strong leadership ability to focus, prioritize, and match skills to tasks
- Must be able to work up to a 12 hour shift, which includes overtime, weekends and some holidays
- Ability to stand for duration of a shift, up to 12 hours; frequent physical activity such as walking, climbing stairs or reaching to work with equipment throughout the entire shift
- Ability to work with exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs
- Strong communication skills required. Must read, speak and understand English language in verbal and written communication
Your Education
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required
