Silicon-Proto Lab Manager - Meta

Meta Reality Labs (MRL) focuses on connecting people through Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). The compute performance and power efficiency requirements of these products require custom silicon. The Facebook Agile Silicon Team (FAST) is driving the state-of-the-art forward with breakthroughs in computer vision, machine learning, mixed reality, graphics, displays, sensors, and new ways to map the human body. We believe the only way to achieve our goals is to look at the entire stack, from transistors, through architecture, to firmware and algorithms.The Silicon End-to-End (E2E) team seeks a Lab Manager to oversee the operation of FAST’s silicon-proto labs across different sites. The position requires a leader who can manage priorities, distribute resources across a portfolio of short/mid/long-term lab projects, and has experience working with different engineering teams to manage labs’ daily operations to meet Facebook’s lab safety and security guidelines while facilitating efficient development and testing environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Silicon-Proto Lab Manager Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of support staff/technicians and oversee the operations of FAST’s silicon-proto labs across different sites to support engineering productivity in silicon validation and system prototyping.
• Plan and execute lab projects including lab expansion, rack-scale system installation, equipment planning/procurement/setup/inventory/maintenance/calibration/SW update/license & renewal, and lab network/security/IT interface, etc..
• Drive lab space, safety, regulatory, and security processes compliance.
• Work with software infrastructure teams to timely deploy standard lab environments.
• Work with cross-functional engineering managers and collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines to deliver high quality lab working environments.
• Understanding of silicon chip validation, electronics components, schematics, PCB layouts, and product assembly.
• Domestic travel 10%.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering related field or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in silicon/EE/HW lab setup, management, and maintenance.
• Experience with Lab PO process from quotation, purchase, payment, to delivery.
• Hands-on experience operating multimeter, oscilloscope, power supply, and other common benchtop equipment.
• Hands-on experience on consumer hardware teardown, solder, and rework.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with silicon chip bring-up and validation process.
• Scripting skills with one or more languages for equipment automation and data processing.
• Familiarity with high speed IO bring-ups, FPGA systems, and prototypes.
• Hands on experience with Synopsys HAPS Systems: Setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with configuring and deploying servers: Linux and x86 machines.
• Experience working in an agile environment, changing roadmaps, and adapting project plans based on changes.
• Experience working with cross-functional partners such as SoC team, validation team, product design engineers, and other hardware/software functions.
