Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our dynamic civil engineering team in our Denver, Plano, or Las Vegas offices. The Project Engineer will be responsible for the design and implementation of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, working closely with the Civil Engineering Project Lead to ensure successful project execution and delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities:BESS Design and Development
- Assist in the design and development of Battery Energy Storage Systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with the Civil Engineering Project Lead to create detailed design plans, specifications, and technical documentation for BESS projects.
Technical Analysis
- Conduct technical design related to BESS design, including site design, feasibility studies, and performance evaluations.
- Utilize engineering software (Civil 3D) and tools to design BESS sites.
Project Coordination
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, structural, and environmental engineers, to integrate BESS design.
- Support project management activities, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Participate in quality assurance and quality control processes to ensure the integrity BESS designs.
- Ensure all designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company standards.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain effective communication with clients, addressing any technical inquiries or concerns related to BESS projects.
Field Support
- Support field activities during the construction and implementation phases of BESS projects, ensuring adherence to design specifications.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor project progress and resolve any engineering issues that arise as needed or requested by the client.
Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to BESS and renewable energy.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development of innovative engineering solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on renewable energy projects, BESS design, or land development.
- Proficiency in civil engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and engineering analysis tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations related to civil engineering and renewable energy projects is a plus.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is preferred but not required.
