Site Director - RCPS Afterschool Program
TITLE: Site Director - RCPS Afterschool Program
Role Summary:
The Site Director will work in close conjunction with Y and RCPS staff to develop and implement a strong after-school program that provides positive activities for primary education students. This work will be conducted in such a way as to provide college student interns (paid part-time staff) with real-world experiences that are in-line with their career aspirations and/or interests.
Position type: Part-time, hourly for 15 to 20 hours per week, on average Note: this may be one position covering the full period, or 2 positions splitting the time each week (i.e. 8 to 10 hours each)
Rate of Pay: $20.00 per hour
Responsibilities:
- Program management
- Provide daily management of the program, serving as the Y’s on-site staff person
- Ensure accurate daily attendance tracking of participants
- Assist in developing and delivering high-quality educational and socio- emotional programming for participants
- Homework help / tutoring / academic enrichment
- Healthy snack
- Physical activity
- Create and maintain a schedule of daily/weekly activity plans (in conjunction with interns)
- Conduct regular program assessment and evaluation, guiding interns in implementing changes that incorporate participant feedback
- Oversee risk management, health, and safety of program site
- Address disciplinary issues as appropriate
- Staff management (student interns)
- Organize and schedule classrooms to ensure program is appropriately staffed and that student/teacher ratio is maintained
- Supervise staff, while also serving as a mentor and role model
- Support staff through all aspects of the program
- Develop trainings and coach staff in areas such as:
- Participation expectations
- Program on-boarding and overview
- Classroom management techniques
- Youth engagement and enrichment activities
- Assisting with homework help,
- Administration
- Serve as key point of contact for parents/care givers
- Provide proactive communication
- Answer questions as appropriate
- Escalate issues as needed
- Develop, update, and/or maintain risk management policies that reflect best practices and guidelines
- Maintain compliance with both Y and RCPS policies and procedures
- Ensure program operates in accordance with the Virginia Department of Education’s (VDOE) guidelines
- Ensure accurate billing of participants, based upon attendance
- Maintain all documentation related to the program (i.e. background checks, enrollment information, incident reports, etc.)
- Serve as key point of contact for parents/care givers
