POSITION SUMMARY
Ragnar Benson is in search of a Safety Manager! The Safety Manager will be responsible for the oversight of Health & Safety on a project site, as well as to address all of those issues and immediate report to the Company Safety Director.

Responsibilities:- Will have primary responsibility for implementing the safety, health, fire prevention and first aid programs for a specific job/project; or may be assigned to a project for performance of duties as directed by the Risk Manager or Safety Director.
- Conduct daily surveys of William Charles Construction and Ragnar Benson Construction and contractor/subcontractor operations to ensure compliance with OSHA and state safety standards and regulations. Identify safety defects and initiate corrective action.
- Maintain current knowledge of all applicable OSHA standards and regulations; maintain current knowledge of all applicable state or other governmental safety and health standards and regulations; ascertain that all safety personnel are appropriately knowledgeable; coordinate application and administration of such requirements at the project site.
- Maintain working relationship with project supervisors and contractors/subcontractors, client personnel, insurance carrier representatives, local media services, community fire departments, OSHA and state safety agencies.
- Recommend cessation of work in unsafe areas for action by job supervision; in imminent danger situations, may stop work on own volition; stipulate necessary compliance to permit resumption of such work.
- Conduct accident investigations; analyze causes and formulate recommendations for corrective preventative action.
- Prepare injury reports; maintain required records; provide adequate documentation on safety inspections and occupational health monitoring activities.
- Conduct supervisory safety meetings; participate in weekly planning and scheduling meetings.
Prepare job safety topics and subject material for "toolbox" safety meetings; review and audit such meetings to ensure effectiveness. - Conduct and/or supervise safety orientation of new hires.
- Keep Corporate Safety Director advised in a timely manner of project safety program progress or unresolved safety issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Safety or Occupational Safety
- Minimum 5 years implementing safety programs for commuter and/or freight rail infrastructure projects
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Certified Safety Professional or Construction Health and Safety Technician designation
- Holds OSHA 30 card
- Experience with the FRA, NIOSH, OSHA and Uniform Fire and Building Codes
- Prior experience with fall protection programs for railroad bridge work
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Proven management and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft programs including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
