About the Job
Herrick Company, Inc. (HCI) is seeking an ambitious and talented Site Superintendent for water and wastewater treatment plant projects. As an experienced and well-respected contracting firm in the water industry, we're seeking a like-minded supervisor who has the necessary experience in the field but wishes to be integrally involved in the growth of the company within Kentucky and the surrounding area. The Site Superintendent will be in direct control of all on-site activities and hiring of field personnel. The Site Superintendent will work directly with the company's ownership in the procurement, management, and execution of water/wastewater treatment projects including expansions and renovations. The Site Superintendent should have a strong working knowledge of sitework, excavations, piping installations, cast-in-place concrete, and treatment plant process equipment installations.

Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Studies plans and specifications to plan procedures for construction based on project budgets, completion timeframes, and staffing requirements for each phase of construction.
- Performs field layout / surveying as required for structures, piping, and process equipment.
- Coordinates work with other trades and subcontractors. Directs subcontractor's supervisory personnel and engages in planning and executing work plans, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.
- Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to industry standards, specifications, and HCI quality standards.
- Assures a safe work site, safe work practices, and is well versed in OSHA requirements as they relate to both General Industry and Construction.
- Maintains and submits all necessary on-site project documentation, including but not limited to daily logs, two-week look aheads, regulatory requirements (e.g. Erosion & Sediment Control Monitoring) and administrative reporting as required.
- Collaborates with project management to maintain the overall project schedule and budgets.
- Leads toolbox safety talks, and attends/participates in regular project meetings with Engineers, Owners, and their representatives, subcontractors, and the project team.
- Maintains the highest level of technical construction expertise through continuing education.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Key Responsibilities
- 5+ years heavy civil and/or water/wastewater treatment plant project experience.
- Maintains and fosters Engineer/Owner relationships.
- Possesses a strong knowledge of construction means and methods and subcontractor management.
- Strong communication skills.
- This position requires frequent walking of the project site in order to perform work reviews and inspections. This will include, but is not limited to, traversing rough terrain, climbing ladders/scaffolds, climbing, or moving in and out of narrow openings, climbing stairs, descending sloped banks, and moderate lifting.
- Must exercise extensive independent judgment to ensure a safe and efficiently executed construction project.
- Willing to work in a team-oriented atmosphere, while being heavily relied upon to assist in and perform complex decision making.
- Must exercise leadership and organization, analytical, oral, and written skills, be results and schedule-driven and operate under periods of stress.
- Willing to learn new approaches and tools while also willing to coach and teach the next generation of construction leaders.
- Capable of efficient use of a computer and standard Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) as well as additional software that may be necessary for management.
- Willing to travel as project opportunities allow/require. Travel compensation will be provided.
