We are looking for outgoing, friendly, energetic, and family oriented people to join our ski shop team at our Alpin Haus location in Amsterdam, NY! If you have an active lifestyle, love the outdoors and like to work with people, this job is for you! The Ski Technician mounts bindings, sharpens edges, and performs tuning and maintenance services on skis and snowboards. This position also assists customers in the retail store throughout their shopping experience.
Salary: $18-$25/hour
Schedule: Part time - Must be available afternoons and weekends
Job Duties:
- Use machines to sharpen edges of skis and snowboards; perform base waxing and tune ups, maintenance, and repairs on ski equipment
- Adjust and mount bindings on new and used skis according to skier’s weight and ability
- Consult with customers needing services, provide recommendations, and answer questions using own technical expertise
- Review and update work orders and details, customer concerns, and any related information relative to work performed
- Provide buyer/customer assistance in all areas of the retail store as needed, to ensure a friendly, positive, and professional shopping experience
- Maintain cleanliness of work area by performing light housekeeping duties throughout the workday
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Previous work experience in a Ski Shop
- Enthusiasm for skiing and/or snowboarding
- Capable of obtaining current ski binding manufacturer certifications upon hire
- Weekend and evening work required

- Experience in following verbal and written guidelines to perform job functions
Physical and Environmental Conditions
- Talking and hearing, standing and walking, using hands to grasp, manual dexterity, pushing, pulling, and reaching with arms/hands, are required.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally, and up to 10 pounds frequently, to move objects.
- Light exposure to fumes, oils and lubricating fluids, and mechanical moving parts, but not to the extent of being undesirable.
