Scope of Position: The Skills Development Coach (SDC) will focus on the coordination of education services and participant case management to ensure the best training program and experience for participants. They will be responsible for outreach, enrollment, supportive service distribution, referrals to training providers, and follow-up. They will work with American Job Center (AJC) staff and the Special Grants staff to enroll participants into Remediation courses and training courses. The Skills Development Coach role will be a hybrid position and this (SDC) will need to be present at AJC locations a minimum of three days per week. They will be required to travel to other AJC and training locations to distribute support services.
Responsibilities:Essential Functions:
- Closely coordinate participant training and program services with AJC and Special Grants teams
- Be onsite to support participants at the AJCs
- Travel to other AJCs and training providers to distribute support services
- Maintain flexible hours in order to accommodate participant schedules
- Ensure all forms are signed and scanned into the system of record
- Continuously follow-up with participants during and after training
- Determine eligibility and the most appropriate training program
- Accurately complete required process for participant enrollment
- Provide individualized assessment of work, family and personal development needs and opportunities
- Build professional one-on-one working relationships with participants to assist in eliminating challenges that are hindrances to completing their training program
- Track all participant activities in the system of record and additional tracking sheets
- Track all participant data points related to interest in training, enrollment, support services, reasons for continuing or not continuing, etc.
- Coordinate support services with Finance Coordinator
- Maintain accurate individual case files for each registered participant
- Share information with appropriate staff and/or funding agencies
- Preparation of project reports weekly to share with leaders
- Ensure that positive outcomes and goals are met as required by contract
- Work with the team on implementing processes that increase engagement
- Work closely with the Special Grants and AJC teams
- Remain well-versed/knowledgeable in all programs offered by Capital Workforce Partners
- Attend funder meetings as requested
- Attend weekly meetings to voice concerns, ask questions, and remain abreast of all program updates
- Must provide status updates and maintain strong line of communication with manager and team
- May be required to manage smaller projects as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Career counseling experience required
- Project Management experience preferred
- Ability to prioritize tasks and document interactions
- Demonstrated telephone, computer, and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain flexibility as needs of contract or contractor required
- Knowledge of local community services and AJC programs is required
- Knowledge of CT Hires and ETO databases
- Bachelor’s degree or associates degree, and three years of work experience in case management/human services or related experience preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Valid driver’s license required
