GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Slitter Line Entry Operator builds slitter head set ups to facilitate a seamless transition between change overs, to minimize line downtime, and increase line production.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The position of Slitter Line Entry Operator is responsible for all operating functions as listed below. Operation of the Slitter Line must be understood in total. All standard work instructions (SWI) must be followed as outlined.
- Check coil to be run on the unit to insure it corresponds to the schedule. Check with the Inspector for pay-off instructions and any other special instructions as listed in the AS-400 system.
- Have Slitter Head set up built, and ready to be introduced for line change over.
- Pull, prepare, and load coils in order scheduled by Line Leader.
- Feed the coil to and through the Slitter Head
- Prepare used Slitter Knives into boxes for grinding.
- Prepare all families of Arbor Rubbers for grinding. Keep rubber sets together, and organized.
- Dump entry shear scrap bin when full, or when steel type changes. Remove any scrap or secondary pup coils as directed by Inspection. Assist with all scrap handling, tying off trim, swapping, and dumping bins
- Tooling will be kept organized, clean, and lightly oiled.
- Perform all Housekeeping/Maintenance functions as assigned.
- Entry paper handling, core removal and disposal.
- Cut cores for coil widths, assist with loading paper applicator.
- Proficiency in forklift and overhead crane operations
- Maintain 6S standard
SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Other duties as assigned
- Participation in relevant continuous improvement programs.
- Assist the unloading and weighing of coils from the exit turnstile with overhead crane or PoMaCon Downlayer for packaging.
- Assist with packaging material for shipment.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of a High School Degree or Equivalent (GED)
PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Mobility in plant
- While performing the duties of (this job), the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, etc.
- The employee is frequently required to make use of their hands for technical tasks
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Visual ability with or without correction
- Communication abilities
HEALTH AND SAFETY:
- Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations
- Follow Company safety rules
- Report the absence of or defect in any protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor or Manager immediately
- Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or worn:
- Safety shoes
- Safety glasses
- Hearing protection
- Hard Hat
Some areas may require additional personal protective equipment such as:
- Respirators; the respirator requires you to be clean shaven in order to comply with company policies and procedures as well as OSHA Regulations.
- Fire Retardant clothing
- Acid PPE
- Report to the Safety Coordinator, Group Lead or Supervisor any contravention of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policy
- Must follow all Lock out Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated machines
- Must follow all Environmental Policies and Regulations
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
