- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering.
- Three (3) years Engineering experience in the creation of tooling, dimensional part acceptance, and dimensional part capability/surveillance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- Familiarity with SLM outputs and transforming results to part acceptance criteria.

Our state-of-the-art investment casting facility in LaPorte, Indiana is seeking an SLM Post Processing Engineer to join our team. Nestled halfway between South Bend and Chicago, along the shores of Lake Michigan - our facility in LaPorte, Indiana supplies jet engine components to some of the most trusted names in the Aerospace industry.
The SLM Post Processing Engineer will be instrumental in determining a method to historize all SLM production inspection for engineering review. Be responsible to automate part acceptance script via incorporation of customer print and life of die tolerances versus obtained inspection data, creation of standardized submittal format by customer for all SLM parts, creation of a Pareto tool for part submittals; easily showing trends by feature and part number and creation of a tool that allows engineering the ability to create/trend part capability from historized data.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Ability to interpret complex blueprints, instructions, and inspection requirements
- Utilize Analysis and 3D CAD software such as GOM, ATOS, Siemens NX, Geomagic, and Polyworks to interpret part geometry and complete SLM inspections and color maps
- Use of basic and advanced metrology equipment
- Proficiency in Microsoft office, especially Excel
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Team-oriented attitude
- Knowledge and application of statistics and six sigma methodologies.
- Safety Awareness
- GOM, visual basic, and Python experience preferred
- Working knowledge of SLMs and their applications, including setup, hardware and software programming.
- Practiced familiarity with Layout Inspection procedures and results.
- Ability to interpret complex blueprints, instructions, and inspection requirements.
- Extensive knowledge of GD&T applications specifically datum structure, profile both surface and line, positional tolerance, application of composite versus two single segment tolerance, tolerance of form and tolerance stack up analysis.
- Higher math skills, especially algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.
- Independent, self-motivated worker able to concentrate on difficult tasks for long periods of time or be multi-tasking.
- Computer fluency, including Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD / Siemens NX.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Team-oriented attitude.
- Safety awareness
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Define, scope, and create necessary infrastructure to allow historization of inspected product.
- Coordinate with part number engineering. SLM Process Owner to define production inspection requirements along with a successful methodology.

- Creation of software tool/package for part capability from user defined data set.
- Creation of tool suite to allow user selected time range for part/item submittal Pareto.
- Ability to train others on the use of developed reporting/historization/capability tools and infrastructure.
- Communicate the results of the inspection and its analysis to product engineer.
- Provide programming, database setup, and technical support for engineering and manufacturing requirements.
- Cooperate with peers by participating in an active cross-training environment.
- Adhere to applicable quality standards, company policies and procedures, customer requirements, and safety initiatives
