Position Overview:Join us in our support to the US Space Force (HQ USSF) COMSATCOM Office. Our team provides high quality, comprehensive and diversified expert support services to deliver and integrate a transformative COMSATCOM business model into an overarching SATCOM enterprise environment. We are seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) Engineer (Senior Engineer) to provide expert engineering support and advice in the areas of systems engineering and Commercial Satellite Communications (COMSATCOM). Job duties include:
Responsibilities:- Provide SATCOM expertise to the office regarding COMSATCOM technologies, including managed and transponder bandwidth, multi-orbit constellations, innovative technology, etc.
- Support the development of a new Department-wide COMSATCOM acquisition strategy, providing expertise and technical insight to senior leadership and acquisition experts.
- Participate in government and commercial reviews, symposia, and industry technology conferences to ensure leading edge technology strategies are employed.
- Conduct technology assessments, market research and analysis of COMSATCOM systems.
Develop and review engineering documents related to COMSATCOM architectures. - Must be able to serve all COMSATCOM mission functions; to be able to engineer complex solutions and develop corresponding acquisition documentation, from initiation through award.
- Deliver high quality products and assessments, including those in support of network design, Information Assurance (IA) and cybersecurity, technology assessment, interface/design specification, solutions analysis, and technical project management.
- Provide advice and recommendations on, oversee or otherwise deliver (as applicable) preparation of scope of work documentation, network traffic engineering designs, analyses, models and simulations; Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Management and Control (M&C) architectures; mission assurance strategies and evaluations (e.g., for cybersecurity and resilience); interoperability testing; inspection; technology roadmaps and capability insertions; industry standards; and capacity optimization.
- Provide regular and routine engineering advisory support to various contract negotiations/evaluations and be able to communicate findings and recommendations in well-written artifacts.
- Serve as a technical Subject Matter Expert liaison to the SATCOM industry, including with service, technology, and product providers.
- Communicate Determinations and Findings (D&Fs) in well-written artifacts and shall be available on-demand to communicate highly technical concepts and strategies.
- Minimum of 10 years of systems engineering in the field of SATCOM or telecommunications.
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or technical discipline.

- Excellent verbal and written Executive level communication.
- Team player with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be deadline driven, fast paced, organized and detail oriented.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to give and receive candid feedback in an open, results-oriented environment.
- Master’s Degree in an Engineering or technical discipline.
- Knowledge of current COMSATCOM vendors, technology, and business models preferred.
- Knowledge of emerging COMSATCOM capabilities (e.g., proliferated Low Earth Orbit [LEO] vendors, optical links) preferred.
- Ability to support client site meetings at Fort Meade.
- TS/SCI eligible.
