Job Summary:
The Snowmaking Assistant Manager will provide strategic direction and leadership to build a strong team to execute snowmaking during production season (December-February) and maintain and upgrade equipment the remainder of the year (March-November). In partnership with the Director of Mountain Operations and Manager of Mountain Operations, this role will develop and execute capital projects in compliance with company and USFS guidelines and regulations. This position will also ensure adherence to all safety protocols, financial budgets and leadership development of the entire snowmaking team.
Job Responsibilities:
+ Responsible for the safety, training, and management of snowmakers, winter snowmaking operations and summer snowmaking maintenance and construction at all levels.
+ Will oversee the proper installation and maintenance of snowmaking equipment.
+ Lead winter snowmaking operations and summer construction projects from start to finish with assistance from the Mtn Ops Manager.
+ Problem solve various issues to ensure an efficient and safe operation year-round.
+ Must be proactive and look for improvements in all aspects of the operation on a consistent basis.
+ Responsible for ensuring compliance with all mandated policies, programs in addition to managing operating and capital budgets.
+ Responsible for the identification and development of talent and leadership on the snowmaking team.
+ Responsible for the engagement, moral and welfare of the snowmaking team.
+ Provide excellent and effective communication to departments across the mountain and resort, treating other departments as your ‘internal guests’.
Job Requirements:
_Required:_
+ High School diploma,
+ Previous snowmaking or mountain operations experience
+ Minimum three years supervisory experience
+ Must have a valid driver’s license
+ Must have general computer skills, including Microsoft Office & VRI Software programs preferred
+ Must be able to read, speak, write and understand English – required
_Preferred:_
+ Previous heavy equipment and/or cat operating experience
+ Previous electrical and mechanical (pumps, motors, compressors) experience – highly preferred
+ Previous snowmaking installation experience
+ Previous knowledge of Liberty Mountain
+ Competent snowmobile operator
+ Previous experience budgeting at departmental level
+ Pipe welding experience
Physical Requirements:
+ Able to withstand inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time.
+ Able to work and supervise day, grave shifts, weekends depending upon need.
+ Able to lift and carry 75 pounds in a rugged alpine environment.
+ Must be able to stand, walk and ski in boots for long portions of your shift.
The expected pay range is $25 - $35. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
