Job Description: Social Media Content Creator
Location: San Diego, CA
Schedule: 10-15 hours per week
Reports to: Communication & Marketing Manager
Compensation: $19 - $22 hourly rate
Classification: Part-time, Non-exempt, in-person, occasional evening and weekend work required.

Scope of Work: The Social Media Content Creator position will support the digital communication efforts of Olivewood Gardens & Learning Center, focusing on social media management and content creation to promote our environmental, food, and nature-based programs. This position requires hands-on experience in content creation, digital storytelling, and audience engagement through various social media platforms. As an organization rooted in community, this role requires active participation in anti-racist work and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
- Create engaging content (videos, photos, graphics, and copy) that showcases Olivewood Gardens & Learning Center’s mission, values, and events.
- Assist with managing Olivewood’s social media accounts including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn by planning, scheduling, and posting content regularly to maintain an active online presence.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to align content with campaign goals, key messaging, and brand guidelines.
- Track social media analytics to measure the effectiveness of posts and campaigns, offering insights and recommendations for improving engagement.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate new ideas for storytelling, environmental advocacy, and community connection through digital platforms.
- Actively engage with our online community by responding to comments and messages, and encouraging audience interaction.
- Stay updated on social media trends and best practices to keep Olivewood Gardens & Learning Center relevant and fresh.
- Work closely with the Communications and Marketing Manager and other team members to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms.
- Identify opportunities to expand Olivewood’s reach through social media and communications.
- Develop and manage a social media marketing calendar through Trello or other platforms.
- Assess social media strategies for effectiveness and update as needed.
- Assist with content creation for email marketing campaigns, newsletters, and other digital outreach efforts, as needed.
- Participate in Olivewood staff meetings and other all-staff activities.
- Represent Olivewood in the community at professional and community events.
- Support annual Olivewood events, including the Day of Play and Seedling Soirée, Holiday Bazaar, Halloween, Spring Plant Sale, and other events.
- 1+ relevant experience or education in digital media and content creation
- Marketing, communications or related field experience preferred
- Strong organizational and time management skills
