Job Summary and Qualifications

The Social Media Specialist will develop and manage all social media and content initiatives for the College. They will be responsible for executing all of Galen’s social media efforts, including content, copywriting, video, imagery, strategy, data analytics, and campaign development. This also includes the distribution of appropriate content on Galen social networks to ensure content aligns with annual strategic objectives and reflects the Galen voice and brand. They will work closely with Galen’s Creative Director and Content Marketing Manager to develop social media programming that fosters brand loyalty and advocacy, as well as grow brand engagement and student leads.

 Position Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement social media initiatives – including a robust content calendar - to align with marketing strategies.
2. Implement successful performance-driven social marketing campaigns.
3. Create engaging, original, strategically-relevant content in multiple mediums/formats and channels.
4. Consistently seek, find, and tell great stories from Galen students, faculty, and staff.
5. Schedule and manage postings.
6. Understand organic social and how to increase reach, interaction, and other KPI’s.
7. Coordinate with the marketing team to ensure brand consistency.
8. Build collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, including Campus Engagement Specialists, to support and promote campus events.
9. Effectively moderate conversations, questions, and comments on all Galen's social channels.
10. Track performance data and provide analysis and insights to guide optimization.
11. Develop effective and relevant content to help position Galen as subject matter expert in nursing education.
12. Identify and promote newsworthy stories and events to support the Galen brand.

Position Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or related field.
• Required Experience: 3-5 years of experience in an advertising and/or marketing agency or in-house marketing department in roles focusing on social media, copywriting, and content generation. Experience with social media publishing tools, design applications, video editing platforms, and more. Managed multiple projects and meeting deadlines. Experience with building collaborative and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Deep understanding of emerging social media trends, best practices, and advanced tools and platforms.
• Preferred Qualifications: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including copywriting. Strong time management skills with obsessive attention to detail. Demand generation focused. Conversion and driven by KPIs. Proven ability to generate and execute content strategies for multiple target audiences. Professional and effective presentation skills.
• Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment: Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Lift 10 pounds and assist with marketing needs. Some travel potentials between campuses.
• Degree of Supervision: Minimal
