GENERAL PURPOSE
The full-time Soda Shop Line Cook will work to maintain an organized, productive diner in a safe and sanitary environment. This individual will prepare meals to order, along with managing the daily operations of the Soda Shop. The residents, partners, and guests will be served appetizing, nutritionally balanced meals in a timely manner to promote high customer satisfaction.

This individual will prepare meals to order, along with managing the daily operations of the Soda Shop. The residents, partners, and guests will be served appetizing, nutritionally balanced meals in a timely manner to promote high customer satisfaction.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING (including, but not limited to the following):
- Your work hours are 7:00 am - 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday
- The Soda Shop is to be open for both breakfast (7:30 am - 8:30 am) and lunch (11:00 am - 1:00 pm) with additional special events as scheduled.
- You will prepare a monthly menu as well as creating a daily/weekly special. Creativity is valued as we want you to bring new ideas "to the table."
- Menu items are to be prepared prior to service
- Produce delicious and attractive meals
- Keep a clean and friendly work area
- Have the ability to interact with residents so as to begin to understand individuals' likes and dislikes - this is their home!
- Coordinate with FNS manager to ensure menu items are ordered and well stocked
- Have the ability to engage with residents and staff in a friendly and professional manner
- Be comfortable using a gas oven and range when necessary to prepare some menu items

DETAILS OF WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Must have a sincere interest in foodservice and enjoy working with the senior care living
- 5 years of hands-on food prep/presentation experience.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Must possess or be willing to learn basic computer skills.
- Must be knowledgeable, and have the skill sets to plan, cook, and serve quality meals for residents, partners, and guests.
- Must be in good mental and physical condition.
- Must possess and use excellent customer service and communication skills.
- An outgoing personality who has never met a stranger
- Creativity in menu planning preferred.
- Must have knowledge of sanitation / cleaning procedures and food safety including proper food handling / storage service.
- May be required to have Food Handlers Certificate or approved Sanitation course certification, as required by NHC standards or per state regulations.
- Must be able to be on feet standing or walking most of the working day and must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and twist numerous times daily.
- Must be able to lift 50-60 pounds, sweep and mop floors, and push/pull carts.
- Must be able to climb on safety ladders to perform cleaning, storage, and other duties.
- Must be able to carry out job tasks requiring manual dexterity.
- Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with residents, partners, and guests.
- Must be able to properly handle and operate all food service equipment of standard height and design used in food preparation, service, and cleanliness.
- Must be able to taste and smell foods of all consistencies to determine quality and palatability.
- Must be able to withstand changes in extreme temperatures while working around heated equipment in kitchens or entering walk-n freezer, etc. In dish room, must be able to work n a noisy room with warm, moist, and odorous atmosphere,
- Must be alert and work safely and cautiously to avoid cuts, burns, or other injuries while working with kitchen equipment and to avoid falls while working on or near wet and slippery floors.
