SOFTWARE COORDINATOR (PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT SERVICES) - City of San Angelo Texas

We are currently seeking:
A software coordinator whose primary focus may be in coordination of an IT function or facility; in system, database, or network administration; or in highly skilled technical analysis and user support for development related software. Performs a variety of complex information technology coordinating and analytical duties to ensure smooth delivery of technology services. Coordinates, assists and trains others in the operation of computer hardware, software, and peripherals within the Planning & Development systems. Utilizes computer equipment, software and diagnostic tools to play a lead role in a broad range of customer assistance, production job processing, and software maintenance and repair. Works independently with minimal supervision and may assist in training, scheduling and distributing work of other staff members. Exercises judgment, creativity, and advanced technical skills in selecting and applying procedures correctly and determines when to refer problems to the next level of support and manages those issues.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Evaluating priorities and coordinating resources to address customer issues with development software.
- Diagnosing issues when computers or development software is not working as they should.
- Facilitating the interaction between end users and higher-level support within Avolve, Legal Files, and Central Square.
- Coordinating training programs for staff and the public, assessing needs, identifying knowledge or documentation gaps. Participating in the design and delivery of training sessions and materials.
- Acting as backup to facilitate development project proposals through the review and approval process, including leading the Development Review Committee.
- Assisting City departments as needed to expedite review of development project documentation; monitors activities to assure the technical requirements are met.
- Creating and updating departmental websites including, but not limited to, the implementation and design of new information, forms and links.
- Managing the layout and organization of the ComDev process making any necessary updates or changes to information requested from the public, maintaining integrity and redesigning the database as necessary.
- Evaluating the effectiveness of programs, services, and activities to ensure they are meeting development needs and customer requirements.
- Monitoring system and network performance and organize maintenance activities (e.g. backups).
- Meeting regularly with department staff to discuss and resolve workload and technical issues.
- Regular and timely attendance is required.

Requirements and Skills:
- Displays the ability to program computers and software effectively.
- Maintaining accurate and interrelated technical records.
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers the development community and the general public.
- Operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of business software.
- Effective verbal and written communications.
- Good customer skills and ability to relate and communicate with people from a variety of backgrounds.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
BS or BA degree in information technology or computer science; additional certification (CompTIA Network+Ù« CompTIA Security+ etc.) will be a bonus or related field OR five years of experience in a development related or marketing-communications related field.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver License with a good driving record.
- Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Work is performed in a standard office environment.
- Subject to sitting for extended periods of time, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting of objects up to 25 pounds.
