About the Job
PlanIT Group is seeking a Software Developer to support our Federal customer in the Washington, DC area. This candidate will create technical design deliverables, develop new programs, enhance existing programs, build unit test plans, test cases, and test data and execute those tests. This individual will design and install changes into internal testing regions as well as coding and testing fixes for discovered defects, following procedures and coding standards in a highly rigorous development environment.

What you'll do:
• Designs, codes, unit tests, and debugs enhancements to the health claims processing system.
• Participates as a member of a persistent Agile development team.
• Completes development to implement complex components.
• Working under only general direction, provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
• Participates in design activities.
• Designs, prepares and executes unit tests.
• Contributes to strategic direction for teams.
• Applies technical knowledge to provide maintenance solutions across one or more technology areas.
• Applies company and 3rd party technologies to complex software solutions of moderate complexity.
• Implements end-user or enterprise solutions of moderate complexity.
• Integrates technical expertise and business understanding to create superior solutions for clients.
• Consults with team members and other organizations, clients and vendors on complex issues.
• Provides time / resource estimates for assigned projects.
• May assist in developing innovative solutions to complex business and technology problems in areas of proven expertise.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree with 5-7 years, Master's degree with 3-5 years, Phd with 0-2 years, or 9+ years in lieu of a degree.
• Requires 5 years of mainframe development experience.
• Experienced with mainframe technologies such as COBOL, JCL, CICS, TSO and VSAM
• Experience with IDz and Github
• Experience as a software developer in a mainframe environment.
• Ability to determine and decompose business requirements.
• Agile/SCRUM Application change methodology experience.
• Ability to develop application project solutions and estimating.
• Must be able to obtain/maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Medicare Part A, Medicare Part B, or Medicare Common Working File (CWF) specific processing systems.
• Experience working with CMS.
• Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps tools and frameworks through plan, define, build, test, release and deploy process
• Agile experience and/or certification a plus
• Modern Technical Skills a plus: Java (JEE), Java EE Design Patterns, Web Services (REST, JSON, Swagger), JCICS (nice to have), OSGi bundles/JAR, UNIX/RHEL/USS, Jira, Confluence, GitHub, Eclipse (IDz/RDz, RBD), JACOCO
• AWS exposure/experience a plus.
• Knowledge of health care claims processing.
