What does a great Software Development Engineer do?
This role within Travelport will allow you to collaborate with a focused team of experienced development engineers, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of Travelport Air Search technologies. Air Search is a suite of applications that deliver the most compelling Air Offer solutions to our customers. These applications are in High Performance Compute grids and are commonly referred to as the engine for Travelport.
Responsibilities include:
• Participate in an Agile team and scrum ceremonies.
• Design, develop, modify, test, and implement new and existing creative and responsive Air Search solutions.
• Perform code reviews to improve code quality and enforce unit testing, writing secure code with no performance issues.
• Constantly research and identify new development technologies/trends to drive innovation, quality, and a fresh outlook
• Collaborate with an internationally distributed team with members representing Customer Experience, Enterprise Architecture, Software Engineering, Product Owners, Information Security, and outside vendors.
• Support and contribute to DevOps activities like create and maintain CI/CD pipelines, build and deploy client installers and services onto various environments, etc.
• Contributes to the design, development, and implementation of technical processes, procedures, and engineering best practices.
• Working with architecture and product management to identity the optimal technical approach and contribute to the full solution design.
• Deliver high quality code and optimized solutions on time and to specification.
• Coach and mentor peers within the development community in Travelport.
• Support the production system and be available to resolve customer incident escalations in an “always on” global travel industry.
Who we are looking for in this role:
• 2+ Experience with software development using C, Prolog or other lower-level programming language.
• Deep understanding of recursive functions.
• Familiarity with all phases of the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).
• Familiarity with algorithms and their space/ time complexity.
• Experience writing high performing applications.
• Familiarity with different kinds of data structures and their implementation. Those include but not limited to stack, heap, tree, priority queue, hash map etc.
• Familiarity with various searching and sorting algorithms and their implementation.
• Familiarity with first order / predicate logic and horn clauses
• Familiarity with memory management in C and tools like, valgrind.
• Preferred: Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Science.
