JOB SUMMARY:
The Flight Dynamics Software Engineer is a highly motivated and self-driven team player that can perform in a dynamic prototyping environment. This role is responsible for design, development, integration, test, and documentation for software in flight simulator dynamic models on a wide range of aviation platforms.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Design, develop, integrate, test, and document flight simulator software for flight dynamics models
+ Create, maintain, conduct flight test data collection plans
+ Develop Qualification Test Guide tests and documentation to validate flight dynamics models
+ Participate in customer acceptance and regulatory qualification of flight simulator training devices
+ Stay current with flight simulation industry regulations (FAA, EASA, ICAO)
+ Work closely with engineers of varying disciplines and aircraft subject matter experts to meet or exceed flight simulator training device requirements
+ Recommend, incorporate, and/or alter new and existing simulator designs and documentation
+ Participate in engineering design reviews
+ Perform hardware/software integration & testing on flight simulator training devices
+ Provide engineering staff with recommendations for software/hardware enhancements
+ Research and analyze data, such as customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
Qualifications
E DUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
+ Bachelor’s degree required in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field
+ Minimum 2 years of exp with developing/integrating flight dynamic modelsand creating Qualification Test Guides (QTGs) in the flight simulation industry required
QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Understanding of longitudinal and lateral-directional flight dynamics including aircraft performance, six degree of freedom forces/moments, stability/control derivatives
+ Knowledge of aircraft systems, specifically propulsion, flight controls, and ground reaction forces
+ Experience integrating/testing aircraft OEM aerodynamic models preferred
+ Fixed-wing flight dynamics and flight simulation industry experience preferred
+ Proficiency with C/C , Python, Linux/Unix, and Shell scripting is a plus
+ General piloting knowledge is a plus
+ Flight testing experience is a plus
+ Exceptional problem solving and troubleshooting skills
+ Strong work ethic and attention to detail
+ Excellent verbal and written Communication Skills
+ Professional and diplomatic demeanor
+ Strong sense of accountability and integrit
+ Ability to work independently and in a team environment
+ Ability to travel for up to 25% annually
