Purpose of Position
Evaluates, selects and applies appropriate engineering techniques and procedures using judgment in making required adaptations and modifications to effect an accurate aircraft systems simulation model.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Reviews simulator engineering specifications, malfunction documents, flight manual, aircraft systems data and aircraft data.
- Implements all standard aircraft systems simulation software and integrates the software with that of other engineering disciplines such as propulsion, flight, navigational and visual systems.
- Transforms flow chart into high order computer language (e.g. Fortran, C++)
- Develops complete aircraft systems program Math Models, flow charts, and source code as required by the aircraft simulator specification.
- Performs an analysis of the aircraft systems and data.
- Prepares customer test guide for the aircraft systems per specifications.
- Performs standardized checkout procedures.
- Presents the simulator operation and performance characteristics to the customer and correct deficiencies identified by the customer. This may include working at customer facilities.
- Presents periodic informational reviews to the functional and project management.
- Performs all Full Flight Simulator Software Team Leader responsibilities such as releasing Hardware/Software ICDs, creating and maintaining Malfunction Documents, and creating and maintaining simulator Test Loads. When requested, oversee Build Checkouts, oversee Customer Acceptance in plant and/or on-site, and operate Instructor’s Station during simulator Qualifications.
- Performs all Matrix Software Team Leader responsibilities such as creating and maintain Malfunction Documents, creating Test Loads for Pre-Build Checkouts, overseeing Pre-Build Checkout, and overseeing Final Build Checkout when requested. Oversee Customer Acceptance by coordinating reviews with engineers, recording new discrepancies, taking/maintaining customer requested snapshots.
- When requested, train other engineers on standard Aircraft Systems procedures and responsibilities including Software Team Leader responsibilities.
- Works with software and hardware colleagues, project engineers and others to affect a smoothly integrated system. Utilizes the software log and hardware deficiency reports to inform his co-workers.
- Works with FSI training center personnel to correct any aircraft systems program problems during on-site acceptance of the simulator.
- Travel, shift work, and special work hours may be required to accomplish some of the above tasks.

- Able to adhere to a work schedule including prompt and regular attendance.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering other applicable field

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Microsoft Office
- Fortran or C++ required. Both Fortran and C++ desired.
- Unix desired.
