About the Job
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g. C++) or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
- 5 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
- 2 years of experience with cameras, image processing or Android development.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
- Experience writing full applications, either independently or leading a team.
- Experience with Android OS or Linux architecture, drivers, systems programming.
- Experience with one or more of the following: CNNs for imaging, GPU or SIMD programming, processing real world data, statistics.
- Experience with cameras or displays, hardware, physical devices and sensors, color image processing, color spaces or automatic white balance algorithms.

Project Starline is developing advanced software and hardware technology to enable people who are separated by distance to experience a conversation as if they were together. Project Starline from Google combines advances in hardware and software to enable friends, families and co-workers to feel together, even when they’re cities (or countries) apart. Imagine looking through a magic window, and through that window, you see another person, life-size and in three-dimensions. As part of the Project Starline team, you'll work with researchers and engineers in a fast-paced product-oriented environment. Our teams collaborate closely with Google Workspace and Research teams. Your contributions will have an impact on the future of communications with Google products. You will apply technology to solve that really important problem that we often want to be together and we can’t.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $161,000-$239,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and advance software and software systems for Starline's color imaging pipeline.
- Collaborate with imaging and machine learning engineers to deploy state of the art algorithms and methods, and deliver the best possible Project Starline visual user experience.
- Work across the organization to advance tools and development practices.
