This position is focused on embedded SW with significant SW/HW interactions. The solutions will involve Device Drivers, and Network Processors knowledge. Experience with memory architectureswill be useful as well as experience with multi-threaded andmulti-processprogramming.
What You'll Do
As a Software Engineer in theSpitfire Interface and Bundles Development(Cisco 8000) team, you will design and developa large rangeof networking features as part of the Software Development Team. The foundational features of the next generation platforms are solidly in place. This will be a ground floor opportunity and will allow you tobe responsible forthe next phase of product growth, convergence in the SP space supplyingsignificant featuresfor. - DevelopSoftware Development Kits (SDKs) and control planes for networking protocols,leveragingthe advanced capabilities of Cisco's newer generationSiliconOneASICs.
- Optimize the performance of network layer SW for low latency, highthroughputand efficient resourceutilization
- Work closely with the HW team to ensure successful interfacing of the OS with the network hardware.
- Test and debug issues
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’swith 5+ years of relevant experience orMaster’swith 3+ years of relevant experience or PhD with 0+ years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience programming withC
Preferred Qualifications
- Programming experience with Python
- Experience with multi-threaded or multi-process programming
- Experience with debugging tools such as GDB
- Experience implementing L3 network protocols such as IPv4, IPv6 etc.
- Experienceoperatingin a Linuxenvironment including familiarity with Linuxcommand lines
- Understanding of segmentation faults and how to fix them
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
