Implements basic code and configuration changes under direction and in a low risk environment. May perform duties in one or more of the following disciplines: Open Systems, Mainframe, or Application Configuration.

Who should apply?
- Applications are accepted fromcollege students currently enrolled at an accredited college or university to pursue a four-year degree or to complete a master's degree program full-time
- Students graduating in spring 2026thru spring 2027 highly preferred
- A minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 is required to be considered for this internship
- Majors in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering required

Duties and Responsibilities
Erie Insurance offers interns the opportunity to gain experience in several different areas of our IT Division.
- Software Engineering: Write basic programming specifications, code computer programs and test and implement computer software systems and programs
Technology used depends on assignment but may include: C#, Javascript (Mendix), .Net, Python, Java, MarkLogic, React, Amazon Web Services (AWS), (among others).
- Incorporates development standards into outcomes and implements basic code and configuration changes under direction.
- Develops program logic for new, basic applications or analyzes and modifies logic in existing applications.
- Presents unit tests to an engineer or project leader.
- Performs supplementary work that contributes to the end product submitted by more experienced developers. Codes, tests, debugs, documents, implements and maintains software applications. Analyzes requirements, and maintains, tests and integrates application components.
- Effectively communicates with customers, teammates or other stakeholders to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications.

Minimum Educational Requirements
- High school diploma, or equivalent, required.
- Pursuit of bachelor's degree with completion of sophomore year in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or closely related field required.
Additional Experience
- Minimum 3.0 GPA required.
- Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software preferred.
