Software Engineer - Guidance Residential

We are seeking a full-time experienced Software Engineer local to the Northern Virginia / Washington DC Metro Area to oversee the management, enhancement, and support of our Loan Origination System (LOS). In this role, you will ensure the LOS accurately manages borrower information, supports underwriting and approval workflows, handles secure document storage and electronic signatures, integrates with third-party services, generates compliance reports, and maintains post-closing loan monitoring for servicing. You will work with both front-end and back-end technologies to enhance functionality, streamline processes, and support essential loan processing operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and improve the Loan Origination System using C#, .NET, JavaScript, CSS, MySQL, and Microsoft SQL.

• Collaborate with IT and Operations to gather business requirements, create technical specifications, and deploy solutions.

• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, optimize performance and reduce system downtime.

• Implement updates, patches, and upgrades to keep the system compliant, secure, and efficient.

• Ensure security best practices are adhered to and support risk mitigation efforts regarding data and application security.

• Utilize version control systems (e.g., Git) to manage codebase, track changes, and ensure code quality and integrity.

• Document processes, procedures, and code for reference and team knowledge sharing.

• Promptly address and resolve critical data issues to ensure uninterrupted service.

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in C#, .NET, JavaScript, CSS, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and familiarity with network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP).

• Familiarity with Git and Atlassian products (e.g., Jira, Confluence).

• Experience with PHP, Laravel, Vue, Lisp, Scheme, Azure and AWS is a plus.

• Experience in residential mortgage and real estate industry is highly valued

• 3+ years of software development experience, ideally with exposure to loan origination or similar financial systems.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong communication abilities, and a proactive, collaborative work style.

We are not looking for remote developers or contractors at this time; this is a full-time in-house position. Our offices are conveniently located in Reston, VA and easily accessible from the Virginia, Maryland, D.C. area. We are located within walking distance to the Washington D.C. Metro's Silver Line Wiehle-Reston Station, and we are also only a few miles from the Dulles International Airport.
