Software Engineer, Systems Responsibilities:

1. Research, design, develop, build and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for large distributed components that run applications.

2. Build a platform focused on optimal end-to-end developer experience that empowers engineers to be productive, efficient and move fast.

3. Build new features and improve existing products.

4. Work on problems of moderate scope.

5. Push code, drive the development of the systems behind our products, create web applications that reach billions of people, build high volume servers, and be a part of a team to connect people around the globe.

6. Develop a strong understanding of relevant product area, codebase, and/or systems.

7. Demonstrate proficiency in data analysis, programming and software engineering.

8. Produce high quality code with good test coverage, using modern abstractions and frameworks.

9. Receive general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new projects or assignments, work independently, use available resources to get unblocked, and complete tasks on-schedule by exercising strong judgment and problem solving skills.

10. Master internal development standards from developing to releasing code in order to take on tasks and projects with increasing levels of complexity.

11. Actively seek and give feedback in alignment with company Performance Philosophy.

12. Telecommute from anywhere in the US permitted.

13. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Physics or related field.

14. Requires completion of a university-level course, research project, internship, or thesis in the following:

15. 1. Coding in one of the following industry-standard languages: C, C++, C#, Python, Java, or Javascript

16. 2. Python, PHP, or Haskell

17. 3. Relational databases and SQL

18. 4. Software development tools: Code editors (VIM or Emacs), and revision control systems (Subversion, GIT, or Perforce)

19. 5. Linux, UNIX, or other *nix-like OS including file manipulation and simple commands

20. 6. Building highly-scalable performant solutions

21. 7. Distributed systems including sharding, consistency, and availability

22. 8. Algorithms.

Public Compensation:

$160,524/year to $200,200/year + bonus + equity + benefits
