Technical Landscape:
- Functional first programming using Scala and the JVM on the backend
- Event driven architecture leveraging high throughput, real-time stream processing tools including Kafka, Hadoop, Elastic Search, and Samza; with a micro services approach to application composition
- Multi-environment deployment, from client laptops to the cloud, using Docker containers
- Cross-platform mobile development
- Functional reactive programming using JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS on the frontend
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in 1+ programming language with strong experience in at least one other language
- Strong analytical ability
- Focused attention to detail
- Experience working in a team environment, preferably an agile/scrum team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong desire to learn new software development
- Responsibilities:
- Create, execute and document automated unit, acceptance and integration tests
- Follow established coding standards and practices
- Stay current with industry standard tools and technologies
- Communicate effectively with team members, internal and external customers
- Collaborate with members of a scrum team to ensure success
- Participate in all scrum related events such as sprint planning, retrospectives and backlog grooming
- Protect operations by keeping information confidential
