Software Quality Engineer Intern - Job Overview:
Applied Concepts has been known for its exceptional law enforcement Radar & Lidar systems for over 47 years. We're based in Richardson, TX, less than 3 miles from the UTD campus. We're taking big steps to transition over to cloud-based platforms and our team is looking for motivated Software Quality Engineer interns to join us for January 2025 and beyond.
We are looking for one intern (with flexible start dates); hours per week will be project-based but are negotiable in advance. This internship requires availability for scheduled onsite meetings and access to various test systems. Note: Several of our previous interns have opted to work with us through the rest of their education and beyond, so we offer both official internships for class credits and continuing work opportunities.
The compensation for this internship is $20-$25 per hour, based on skill set and education level. (No relocation assistance is possible for out-of-area candidates).
Software Quality Engineer Intern - How You'll Make an Impact:
As a Software Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for performing integration testing and end-to-end testing, including functionality and quality of software products created by the company. You will also collaborate with other developers, architects, and stakeholders to ensure that the solutions meet business requirements and adhere to the best practices and standards.
Software Quality Engineer Intern - What You Need to Succeed:
- Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
- Familiar with common software quality assurance methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Proficient in at least one programming language, such as C# & Python.
- Familiar with writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases.
- Familiar with working in an Agile/Scrum development process.
- Good problem-solving, and teamwork skills. Ability to work in a team as well as an individual.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent time-management skills and commitment to meet deadlines.
Added bonus if you have:
- Prior work experience in software development or software QA.
- JavaScript and/or HTML programming skills
Software Quality Engineer Intern - What You'll Be Doing:
- Collaborate with the Web and Applications team, as well as the Traffic Products team, to develop test plans and execute test cases that are designed to expose software, firmware, and hardware defects across a spectrum of use-cases.
- Develop semi-automated test systems which can be used to efficiently execute regression testing for new product releases.
- Assist the QA team with system testing and assist the development teams with fault isolation and debugging.
