About the role:
Samsara is looking for a candidate with a computer science background and 4 + years of industry experience to provide world-class software scripting support to our L2 and L3 support engineers. You will be a part of our Tier 2 support team within the umbrella of the Global Technical Support organization. You will be responsible for creating automation scripts to help our customer-facing technical support engineers solve complex customer problems faster improving support across all teams. Your work will be collaborative, working together with other support engineers in multiple support locations to serve our customers and troubleshoot complex issues.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background with experience in multiple programming languages
This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the US except Alaska, Austin metro, California, Chicago metro, Connecticut, Dallas metro, Denver metro, Houston metro, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Washington, and Washington DC metro.

In this role, you will:
Design, build and sustain infrastructure to support the development on the Support Automation Hub which collects data from Samsara’s connected devices.Continuously improve our reliability and scale, while collaborating with product teams to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and optimize performance.Improve engineering standards, tooling and processes.Debug and resolve production issues across varying services and levels of the stack.Build a great customer experience for the support engineers using the Automation Hub Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Obsess Over the Customer, Build for the Long Term, Growth Mindset) as we scale globally and across new offices.
Minimum requirements for the role:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.4+ years of experience on infrastructure-focused teams.Experience working with web services deployed on Cloud providers such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
An ideal candidate also has:
Has 4+ years of relevant industry experience in software development.Is experienced at writing high quality code in a programming language (e.g. Ruby, Scala, Go).Has worked with terraformIs adept at building and using observability tools, frameworks, and standards.Is proficient with relational databases such as MySQL, caching technologies like Redis and NoSQL databases like DynamoDB Knows their way around a UNIX shell and a Linux operating system.Enjoys thinking about systems - their life cycles, edge cases, interactions, and failure modes.Enjoys working collaboratively with developers of different focuses (such as frontend, mobile, firmware, ML/computer vision).
Samsara’s Compensation Philosophy: Samsara’s compensation program is designed to deliver Total Direct Compensation (based on role, level, and geography) that is at or above market. We do this through our base salary + bonus/variable + restricted stock unit awards (RSUs) for eligible roles. For eligible roles, a new hire RSU award may be awarded at the time of hire, and additional RSU refresh grants may be awarded annually.
We pay for performance, and top performers in eligible roles may receive above-market equity refresh awards which allow employees to achieve higher market positioning.
The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below. Please note that base pay offered may vary depending on factors including your city of residence, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
$94,605—$159,000 USD
