NCDHHS - Solution Architect/Engineer (748062)
One Year Contract
Raleigh, NC Hybrid model
The NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking an experienced Solution Architect / Engineer. This resource is responsible to work across the entire Cloud Services organization and ensure cloud solution are implemented as specified
The position responsible for:
o Provide technical leadership for one or more of the following domains: Business Architecture, Application/Software Architecture, Database Architecture, Infrastructure Architecture and Security Architecture.
o Responsible for finding opportunities to improve architecture using cloud and cloud-native technologies.
o Hands-on abilities to build MVP (Minimal Viable Product) technology solutions in the cloud.
o Prior experience in digital transformation for large complex applications.
o Provides assessment of current state technology architecture and recommendation of future state technology architecture
o Identifies architectural risks and plans to mitigate risks, ensures adherence to standards and best practices, and influences and communicates effectively with non-technical audiences including senior ITD and business stakeholders.
o Collaborate with Software Development teams, Product Managers, and Business Owners to ensure smooth deployment and operation of systems.
o Guide/Build CI/CD pipeline configurations to orchestrate provisioning and deployment of both large and small-scale systems.
o Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations.
o Develop Cloud Operation Framework, and roles and responsibilities for each category in the framework.
o Automate tools to monitor system health and reliability to support business process requirements, Troubleshoot and resolve issues in development, test, and production environments.
o Communicate status and risks to the product teams, Help automate and streamline operations and processes.
o Ensure solution designs and implementation meet architecture quality standards.
o Guide Solution Architects / Tech Leads to ensure that application and integration architecture aligns with system design guidelines and enterprise architecture standards.
o Mindful of the Healthcare Industry and Digital Health trends.
o Security Architecture / Security Controls Implementation
o Gap Analysis and Mitigation
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities / Competencies:
o Active status as an AWS Certified Architect (DevOps or Architect preferred)
o Implements technical processes to roll out solutions.
o Works with the project team to deliver fully functional products in a timely manner
o Knowledge of CI/CD (Jenkins, TravisCI, CircleCI, AppVeyor, etc) is required.
o Working experience with one of more automation tools and repository such as Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, CHEF, TeamCity, Artifactory, SVN, Bitbucket
o Working experience with cloud native tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, ELB, Autoscaling, and EC2
o Good understanding of VPCs, Subnet configuration, route table, Internet gateway, VPC peering, Transit gateway, VPC Link, etc
o AWS - Amazon Web Services Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate
o Active certification status on any cloud providers: AWS/GCP/Azure Solution Architect (preferred)
o Active certification status on any cloud providers: AWS/GCP/Azure Developer (preferred)
o Track record of successfully establishing and implementing transformation programs in an Agile and DevOps environment
Minimum Education and Experience:
o Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Systems Management, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Management, Engineering, or another related discipline
o 5+ years of professional IT experience working with Windows Server or Linux environments.
o 4+ Years of AWS Experience, CloudFormation experience
o 8+ years of related experience including experience working with Agile Methods and modern technology environments.
o 3+ years of Cloud architecture experience and cloud economics
o Experience leading cross functional project teams, workgroups.
o Highly desired - Knowledge of security technologies and methods for securing information
o Highly desired - Demonstrated proficiency in understanding enterprise architecture life cycle methodologies.
o Highly desired - Interpersonal and leadership skills that demonstrate collaboration, facilitation, negotiation, conflict management and influence.
