Job Summary
We are looking for a Solutions Engineer who loves diverse technologies to support us in the development and modernization of our IT Ecosystem. This is not your typical desk job as you will go everywhere from a boat bridge to a boardroom.
This full-time exempt position reports to the VP of Finance. This position is based in Seattle, WA. Travel to our vessel locations (Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, and other locations) may be required.
Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role. You should be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly. You should also have the patience to communicate with a variety of users with varying computer skill levels. This is not a help desk position, though you may be asked to assist when appropriate. Your goal will be to ensure that our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
This position requires a lot of flexibility as you may be asked to assist with tasks that have varying levels of difficulty and interaction. However, your responsibilities will generally fall under the following categories:
Vessel Support:
- Install and configure software and hardware
- Manage Satellite network systems and onboard network tools
- Set up accounts and workstations
- Monitor system performance and maintain systems according to vessel requirements
- Troubleshoot issues and outages
- Ensure security through access controls and firewalls
- Upgrade systems with new releases and models
- Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
- Build an internal wiki with technical documentation, guides and IT policies
- Administer the current CRM Systems (Salesforce and Seaware)
- Assist with monitoring and updating system data
- Assist with ERP (Microsoft Dynamics)
- Develop and manage improvements to the system through project planning, coordination, training and support, and promotion of the new features
- Create new reporting capabilities using multiple databases and, provide support functions as needed and respond to ad hoc reporting requests as needed
- Promote standardization of business processes across all teams and systems to ensure sustainable business practices and data integrity
- Produce documentation on processes, policies, application configuration and help-related materials
- Back up and assist with revenue department systems and functions
- Assist VP of Finance with development of analytic and reporting tools
- Leverage Microsoft’s Power Platform to automate various tasks amongst various teams
- This position will assist with development of partial implementation of reservation system or similar projects
- Work with our MSP to resolve complex issues, and to provide an internal perspective to system management and user experience
Requirements
- Tenacious desire to “Be Better” and never stop learning
- Be flexible and move at the speed of business
- Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role
- Experience with managing databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and VoIP systems
- Knowledge of system security
- Experience developing with GraphQL, Python and/or other languages
- Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms
- ERP / CRM Experience with a preference on Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce and Seaware
- Hands on experience with integration and automation between systems, using REST API’s, Microsoft’s Power Platform or similar toolkits
- Knowledge of Cloud based tools and networks with a preference on Azure and the Office 365 toolkit
- Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
- Excellent communication and teaching skills
- Salesforce Administrator Credentials
- BSc/Ba in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline
- Must be able to work in a standard office environment with sitting, typing and writing for 8 to 10 hours per day.
- Ability to life and move electronics and equipment(<30lbs.), enter crawl spaces on the vessels, climb multiple flights of stairs, and work under desks
- Occasional travel (Est. up to 15% Travel to our Vessels as appropriate to support our teams)
The work day core hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, however this position may require a flexible schedule with varying hours to include occasional weekends.
