Functioning within the Safeco Products space, you’ll be responsible for leading the technical vision that enable development teams to create solutions that meet customer needs and align with technology guardrails and strategy.

Responsibilities
As the Solutions Engineer you are responsible for leading the technical vision that enable development teams to create solutions that meet customer needs and align with technology guardrails & strategy
- Turn What into How: Work as a member of a scaled agile leadership team alongside Product leaders and System Architects to translate business strategies into technology solutions
- Build a Vision: Lead the vision and execution to transform foundational product platforms and underwriting capabilities into target technologies, guided by our North Star Architecture strategy
- Lead & Mentor: Work across multiple teams in an agile environment to support and mentor developers in delivering their solutions and developing themselves
- Be Hands-on: Roll up your sleeves as you dissect and prepare complex features or assist teams with challenging issues
- Safeguard & Evangelize Best Practices: Consults on major architectural designs to ensure consistency, security, maintainability, and flexibility with respect to overall system, technical and product architectures within a domain or portfolio
- Build a Great Culture: As part of a broader leadership team, foster a high performing culture based on trust, honesty, and transparency
Experience
- 10+ years of related software engineering experience
- A comprehensive understanding of agile environments
- Extensive knowledge of contemporary frameworks and emerging technologies
- Strong consultative skills, including the ability to understand and apply customer requirements, including drawing out unforeseen implications and making recommendations for design, the ability to define design reasoning, understanding potential impacts of design requirements
- A history of practicing DevOps and SecOps
- A strong background in business operations and strategies, including knowledge of global business, technology trends and the financial services industry
- Well versed in diverse technologies and technical architecture principles and concepts. Extensive knowledge in layered systems architectures solutions and designs and shared software concepts
Skills
- Solid negotiation, facilitation, consensus building and influencing capabilities
- Ability to identify patterns and problems across teams and deliver effective solutions
- Openness and adaptability to respond to fast-moving circumstances
- A design thinking and test-driven development mindset
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, and an aptitude for working in teams
- Experience developing or architecting cloud-hosted, applications using C#/.NET
- Strong background in code review
- High-level proficiency with client-side JavaScript frameworks, server-side frameworks, and NoSQL databases
- Familiarity with event-based System of Engagement architectures and integration with API exposing microservices
- Deep understanding of layered solutions and designs
- Cognizance of security concerns, from access control and authentication to secured SDLC processes
- Understanding of DCI/MDM systems, data ingestion and cloud-scale data sets
Education
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience
