About the Job
Responsibilities
1. Operatesultrasound equipment used to produce fairly complex diagnostic scans to ensureoptimal patient care.
2. Evaluatesand verifies the image quality according to PHHS standards to ensure theobservance of quality control protocol.
3. Reviews andinterprets intermediate/complex exams with attending physician to determine ifadditional procedures are required.
4. Determinesequipment needs for fairly complex examinations to ensure the availability ofneeded supplies.
5. Identifiesand distinguishes appropriate modality of cardiac ultrasound including motionmode, Doppler, two dimensional and color flow and operates ultrasound to ensurethe most effective sonographic records.
6. Maintainsand performs intermediate troubleshooting of ultrasound equipment and informssupervisor as needed to ensure maximum availability of operable equipment.
7. Inspects,cleans, and prepares exam rooms after each patient to ensure the efficiency ofpatient flow within the area.
8. Completes,logs, and distributes billing reports to appropriate individuals to ensure theaccuracy of patient charges.
9. Identifiesways to improve work processes and improve customer (internal as well asexternal) satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements andmonitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals and mission ofthe PHHS.
10. Participatesin various research studies regarding intermediate sonographic procedures withother medical staff to ensure improved information sharing.
11. Providesclinical instructions for new physicians and fellows in the area regardingsonographic practices and procedures to ensure the competency of all healthcare providers. Assists residents in obtaining diagnostic images as necessary.Serves as a resource for new staff as needed.
12. Stays abreastof the latest developments, advancements, and trends in Sonography by attendingseminars and workshops, reading professional journals, actively participatingin professional organizations, and maintaining certification, and integratesthis knowledge as appropriate into the job. Responsible for training andsupervising assigned students as needed.
13. JOBACCOUNTABILITIES - Cardiology
a. Maintains apositive working relationship and serves as a resource person for physicians,other sonographers, students, and patients to ensure an efficient flow ofpatient information.
b. Maintainsknowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines thatimpact the Sonography area. Develops effective internal controls that promoteadherence to applicable state/federal laws, and the program requirements ofaccreditation agencies and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeksadvice and guidance as necessary to ensure proper understanding.
Submission Requirements
at least 1%2B years of experience in Sonographyworking OB/GYN cases
travel experience preferred
ARDMS OBGYN discipline required; Fetal Echocertification strong preferred
MUST have MFM, high risk OBGYN & pre-natalexperience
ALL certs must be active
