Job Title: Sous Chef
Overview: As the Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef to oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of culinary excellence are maintained. This role requires strong leadership, creativity, organization and a deep understanding of fine dining cuisine.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef in menu development, recipe creation, and food costing while maintaining profitability.
- Supervise and mentor kitchen staff, providing guidance and training to ensure consistent execution of dishes.
- Lead by example in maintaining impeccable standards of food quality, taste, and presentation.
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including preparation, cooking, and plating of dishes during service.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef/Executive Sous Chef to manage inventory, order supplies, and minimize waste.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations, conducting regular inspections and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting open communication and teamwork among kitchen staff.
- Assist in scheduling and labor management to optimize productivity and efficiency.
- Act as a liaison between the kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure seamless communication and service.
- Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Executive Chef or Executive Sous Chef
- Enforce all Policy handbook rules established by Bender’s Tavern or Executive Chef
Requirements:
- Proven experience working as a Sous Chef or in a similar leadership role in a fine dining or upscale restaurant setting.
- Strong culinary skills and a passion for creating innovative and high-quality dishes.
- Excellent knowledge of cooking techniques, flavor profiles, and ingredient sourcing.
- Leadership abilities with the capacity to motivate and inspire a team.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on maintaining standards of excellence.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Culinary degree or certification from an accredited institution is preferred but not required.
- Scheduled for a minimum of 44 hrs a week.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
