Job Summary
We are a vibrant seafood-focused restaurant that prides itself on using fresh, local, high-quality ingredients to create scratch-made dishes that celebrate Cajun, southern, and coastal cuisines. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to assist in leading our kitchen team. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled chef with a background in seafood, as well as, the ability to follow a recipe, understands cooking techniques, and willing to work long hours.
Key Responsibilities
1. Menu Execution - Prepare and execute dishes to the restaurant's standards, ensuring quality and consistency in every dish.
2. Kitchen Management - Oversee daily kitchen operations, including prep work, line cooking, and plating during service. - Ensure all kitchen staff maintain cleanliness, safety, and organizational standards. - Monitor food stock, inventory, and supply orders to minimize waste and ensure quality.
3. Team Leadership & Training - Supervise, train, and mentor line cooks and kitchen staff, promoting a positive and productive work environment. - Coordinate scheduling, task delegation, and shift assignments in line with service needs. - Foster a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and respect among the kitchen team.
4. Quality & Food Safety - Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene, including strict adherence to sanitation, storage, and handling protocols. - Conduct regular inspections of the kitchen and equipment to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. - Collaborate with the Chef devCuisine to monitor food and labor costs and portion control to optimize budget and food quality.
Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of culinary experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership or Sous Chef role; experience in a seafood-focused kitchen is highly preferred.- **Skills**: Proficiency in seafood preparation techniques, knife skills, and working in a scratch kitchen environment.- **Attributes**: Creative, detail-oriented, excellent communicator, and a collaborative leader with a passion for food.- **Certifications**: Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred; ServSafe or other food handler certification
