Job Summary:
Service is the foundation of everything we stand for at Vail Resorts and our Food and Beverage team is no exception to creating this experience of a lifetime. The Sous Chef is an integral part of restaurant operations responsible for leading the floor service, assisting management with operational needs, promoting teamwork amongst staff and maintaining service quality and safety to ensure an exceptional dining experience for our guests.
Job Specifications:
+ Expected Pay Range: $25.00 - $28.94 / hour
+ Shift & Schedule Availability: Full Time
+ Skill Level: Advanced
Job Responsibilities:
+ Assist executive chef in day to day operations of high volume full service upscale restaurants.
+ Responsibilities include writing daily menu, ordering, receiving, teaching culinary students, scheduling, maintaining plating standards, supervise food safe handling procedures. etc
+ Supervises daily operations of the kitchen and staff in accordance with defined food program to set standards.
+ Facilitates daily pre-shift meetings.
+ Managing budget and food cost control
+ Supervising kitchen staff and developing staff
+ Create a team atmosphere and lead by example
+ Assist with hiring, discipline and retaining employees
+ Documents and files work order requests in a timely manner.
+ Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
+ High school diploma or equivalent - required
+ Culinary degree - preferred
+ Graduate of accredited culinary program or ACF apprenticeship program or 5 years culinary supervisory experience in a hotel or resort setting
+ Demonstrate the ability to communicate professionally. Must be able to write and produce menu.
+ The ability to work independently and contribute to a positive, productive work environment
+ A flexible schedule including early mornings, weekends, and holidays
+ Be able to lift up to 50lbs and stand for long periods of time
