About the Job:
Working at the National Museum of the Marine Corps, the Technical Support Assistant will assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to broadcasting applications and equipment, conduct maintenance checks on technical equipment to ensure reliability and functionality and provide user support guidance for technical applications used for distance learning programs.
Location/Schedule:
Fully in-person: This is an in-person position located at 18900 Jefferson David Hwy, Triangle, VA 22172. This position is limited to 29 hours per week with a term not to exceed three years.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-program technology tests with schools and organizations.
- Record and edit pre-recorded/live-streamed programming for various audiences.
- Assist with administrative duties, such as responding to program requests, and maintaining scheduling calendar.
- Upload pre-recorded programs and maintain content on video-sharing websites
- Troubleshoot technical issues prior to and during live-streamed programs
- Create and edit promotional material for distance learning programming
- Assist with the preparation of all synchronous and asynchronous distance learning programming.
- Accomplish all tasks appropriately assigned or requested
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Experience utilizing various video conferencing and streaming applications.
- Familiarity with the functionality of various learning management systems used for distance learning programming.
- Knowledge of video conferencing and editing applications such as ZOOM, Google Meets and Canva.
- Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
- Team player.
- Attention to detail.
Technological Skills:
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Interest in military and/or American history
Employment Conditions:

The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: The capability to carry and handle up to 10-20 pounds of technical equipment safely and efficiently. Excellent hand-eye coordination is essential to perform precise tasks and operate equipment effectively. The candidate should also be comfortable working in a shared office space, fostering positive relationships with colleagues and maintaining professionalism in a collaborative environment. Additionally, as some work may be conducted outdoors, the candidate should be adaptable and prepared to fulfill job responsibilities in varying weather conditions while ensuring the successful completion of assigned tasks.
