Sonia Shankman Orthogenic School of Chicago, IL is seeking to hire full-time Special Education Teachers to play a vital role in our students' academic success. This position offers a competitive salary of $55,000-$75,000/year based on experience. Our Special Education Teachers work Monday-Friday, 8:15am-4:30pm with a shortened academic day in the summer and time off in July and August.

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER
As a Special Education Teacher, you utilize your knowledge, experience, and training to engage your students and spark their passion for learning. Most of your time is spent planning, preparing, and teaching lesson plans. During your planning, you consider the individual education plans (IEPs) of each student and adapt teaching strategies suited to their educational needs. As you effectively manage your classroom and engage with the students you are sure to facilitate meaningful connections that ensure successful learning and growth.
Your excellent interpersonal skills assist you as you collaborate with motivated parents, colleagues , and other essential partners in pivotal meetings, school-based events, and celebrations. Your creativity as a professional is fostered as you contribute to the school's therapeutic milieu by sharing your ideas and contributing to the school's programs and culture. Because you grasp the importance of accurate and clear reporting, you write compliance reports including IEPs that reflect your knowledge and understanding of your students and their needs. You are dedicated to a strength-based learning platform that empowers children as learners and helps them identify their own unique learning styles.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Illinois Special Education License (LBS1) required
- Academic background in elementary education and/or a core content in a secondary education area required
- Master's degree preferred
- Experience with students with Emotional Disabilities and/or Autism preferred
