- Coordinate referral, assessment, and IEP processes for students referred to special education.
- Attend initial SSTs when necessary when assessment is requested.
- Follow all SELPA protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor student progress towards goals and objectives and deliver cohesive progress reports to parents, coordinating progress monitoring with all service providers.
- Schedule, convene, and facilitate IEP meetings.
- Monitor the provision of all Special Education services, including accommodations and modifications provided in all educational settings.
- Conduct Academic Achievement Assessments and write reports based on results, possessing the ability to deliver results during IEP meetings.
- Conduct informal assessments and curriculum-based measurements and use results for program decisions.
- Coordinate, collaborate, and integrate Special Education services with the regular education program for all students on the caseload.
- Provide direct or consultative services as defined on the IEP for Specialized Academic Instruction and/or to support behavior, social/emotional, and/or executive functioning skills.
- Ensure all staff working with students on the caseload have copies of necessary IEP documents to ensure IEP compliance in their setting while maintaining confidentiality.
- Keep accurate, detailed, and organized physical records.
- Collaborate with staff, administration, service providers, parents, and any other applicable persons to coordinate and maintain the IEP meeting calendar and schedule.
- Modify general education curriculum and support staff in doing so when applicable.
Qualifications:- Possess a California Mild/Moderate Education Specialist Credential to case manage and provide Special Education services to students on IEPs in a Resource Specialist Program.
- Must possess a Baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university.
- Knowledge of Waldorf Pedagogy preferred but not required.
- Ability to apply knowledge, principles, theories, techniques, and strategies of current research in specific fields, including dyslexia and evidence-based practices for learning disabilities, behavior, and social/emotional.
- Ability to adhere to all Special Education timelines and deadlines, ensuring the same for additional service providers and general education staff for assessments and meetings.
- Demonstrate knowledge and use of SEIS for IEP drafting and case management.
- Knowledge and experience with a wide range of K-12 interventional material in all subject areas, showing flexibility in attending professional development for programs if needed.
- Ability to plan, organize, and develop behavior management programs and interventions for students through a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS).
- Support all school staff in understanding and adhering to MTSS and Special Education processes.
- Knowledge of Special Education law and how to apply this knowledge to write legally defensible IEPs.
