Position Title: Special Education Teacher (PreK-8)

Location: Somerville, MA

Position Type: Full-Time

Overview:
The School is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and qualified Special Education Teacher to support students in PreK-8 who require specialized instruction. This role will involve creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that addresses each student's individualized educational needs.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and Implement IEPs: Design and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs, in compliance with district and state standards.
2. Differentiated Instruction: Deliver specialized instruction using various methods to meet the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities.
3. Behavioral Support: Establish positive behavior interventions and supports, maintaining a safe and productive classroom environment.
4. Collaboration: Work closely with general education teachers, support staff, parents, and other stakeholders to promote student success.
5. Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Conduct regular assessments and document student progress, adjusting instructional methods as needed.
6. Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training sessions and professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in special education.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
• Certification: Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) licensure in Moderate Disabilities PreK-8 or Severe Disabilities PreK-8.
• Experience: Prior experience working with students with special needs, preferably within a school setting.
• Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to implement evidence-based teaching strategies and manage classroom behavior effectively.
