We are seeking an experienced Special Inspector to join our team for various projects throughout North Carolina. This role is integral in ensuring compliance with building codes and safety regulations, and we are looking for a detail-oriented individual with strong communication and documentation skills.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately perform inspections on soil, concrete, steel, masonry, deep foundations, exterior insulation and finish system (EIFS), and fireproofing for various industrial, commercial, residential or municipality projects in accordance with applicable standards.
- Read and interpret design drawings and construction specifications.
- Observe work procedures and verify compliance with job specifications.
- Create accurate and detailed inspection reports.
- Interact and communicate with general contractors, site supervisors, architects, structural engineers, and client representatives.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience performing testing and inspections.
- Working knowledge of mathematics, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, and ability to apply mathematical formulas and engineering principles to determine field adjustments.
- Proficient in the use of iPads, Microsoft Office, email, and Dropbox.
- Ability to work independently, use own judgment, and make decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel and twist, use hands to grasp and arms to reach, raise hands above head, sit, climb and balance, and work in confined spaces and heights.
- Must be able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and up to 90 pounds on occasion.
- Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand up to 8 hours on a normal day and up to 12 hours on occasion. A valid driver's license and ability to drive
- Ability to obtain and/or maintain ACI, ICC, and NCDOT certifications
- Ability to pass a post-offer fit for duty test
Must have one or more of the following certifications:
- ACI / NCDOT Concrete Field Technician Level 1
- NCDOT Certifications
- ICC Soils
- ICC Reinforced Concrete
- ICC Masonry
- ICC Structural Steel and Bolting
- ICC Structural Welding
- ICC Spray-Applied Fireproofing
