The Lead Safety Specialist will ensure that corporate programs and processes are in place to efficiently and effectively achieve company objectives related to occupational safety and process safety. The Lead Safety Specialist will also identify deficiencies in programs and practices and develop strategies to correct those deficiencies. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Leads corporate safety team in tracking and trending safety data. Coordinate Safety Systems Specialist and Statistics Coordinator in report generation, validation, and distribution.
- Responsible for the continual improvement of the company incident reporting application/process and incident investigation processes.
- Track the group's performance toward annual goals and conduct status meetings.
- Responsible for program access and role approval for company incident reporting applications.
- Uses Excel, Microsoft PowerBI, and similar applications to manage injury and illness data, audit data, EHS action items, and other pertinent information.
- Track all safety incidents, analyze trends, and work closely with Field Safety Managers to identify opportunities for improvement. (i.e., action plans, etc.) and short-term and long-range workgroup goals around safety.
- Develop safety topic presentations for various audiences, including operations supervision, pipeline control, and executives.
- Prepares annual award submissions.
- Bachelor's degree in safety or other relevant technical fields.
- Eight or more years of safety-related experience in the energy industry or heavy industry.
- Strong teamwork mentality and goal-oriented focus.
- Understanding of Microsoft PowerBI with the ability to manage datasets in multiple formats.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively and influence various individuals and groups across the organization.
- Proven organizational skills and abilities.
- Proven ability to evaluate issues, define requirements, and implement action plans to accomplish organizational goals.
- Working knowledge of midstream energy industry facilities such as pipelines (gas, liquids, natural gas liquids), pump and compressor stations, gas and liquid measurement facilities, above and below-ground storage, liquid terminals, gas processing facilities, or natural gas liquids fractionation.
