JOB SUMMARY
The Specialist, Service Training under the leadership of the Manager, Technical and Collision Training will support the process to exceed customers’ expectations by developing proactive partnerships with the dealers to create enhanced buying and service experiences for customers. The Specialist, Service Training responsibilities will include (1) Conduct technical and service training to meet Skill Level Guidelines as established by Toyota Motor North America (TMNA). (2) Regularly review, update and implement changes to technical training materials to ensure accuracy, relevancy and current field applicability while communicating results to TMNA development teams. (3) Master the use of Toyota Information System (TIS) and demand its use in all aspects of Technical Training. (4) Encourage, promote, and participate in Toyota service initiatives that grow desire service and buying experience for Toyota customers. (5) Foster relationships with Gulf States Toyota’s dealers. (6) Enhance and maintain cross-functional communication and coordination with Field Technical Specialist (FTS) in the Gulf States Toyota region.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsibly receive, transmit, and handle consumer and customer data per applicable policies and procedures.
- Review and follow data privacy practices, policies, and guidelines.
- Coordinate within the Technical Training team and conduct consistent content delivery across the GST training centers.
- Utilize alternative delivery methods and competency validations when necessary.
- Assist in developing technician and dealer training plans that will allow Gulf States Toyota dealers to meet Skill Level Guidelines as established by Toyota Motor North America (TMNA).
- Serve as a subject matter expert on Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) course development teams.
- Support accurate training record keeping by providing accurate and timely training reports internally and to Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) as requested.
- Encourage and support Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification and Toyota Certified Technician Program participation by all dealers and service technicians.
- Maintain facilities, training aids, tools, vehicles and other associated items at all of GST technical training centers.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Experience:
Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school; or four to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of automotive control systems and industry applicable service and repair techniques.

- Able to communicate effectively – orally and in writing.
- Understand Gulf States Toyota financial and productivity measures.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician (MDT) or equivalent certification from other Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Automotive Master certified; A1-A8.
ASE advanced levels L1, and L3 are also preferred.
Valid driver’s license required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of the job, the associate is required on a daily basis to analyze and interpret data, communicate, and remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the work day; and frequently access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The associate is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The associate is frequently required to travel to other sites, including out-of-state, where applicable, for business purposes. A large amount of this travel involves driving a company vehicle. The associate must frequently move up to 50 pounds and occasionally move in excess of 100 pounds, including engines, transmissions, crates, boxes or other equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The job requires significant domestic travel (up to 50% of the time, including weekends). As a result, the duties for this position occur in various places including, but not limited to an office environment, car dealerships, and semi-industrial settings. The associate will regularly be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, areas in which moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals are present, and outside weather conditions. The noise level for this position will vary and the associate may be exposed to loud noise levels.
TRAVEL REQUIRED:
The job requires significant domestic travel (up to 50% of the time, including weekends).
